New England in the Fall

I don’t think there is anything more beautiful than New England in the fall. While I was home sick earlier this week, every now and then I would look out at our backyard and the sun would hit that giant orange tree and it would just burst with color. Such a peaceful time with the sun low and the leaves wobbling to the ground.

And now back in the office, I look out on the Charles and the buildings are illuminated in fall sunshine. The gold dome of the capital shines brighter than ever and yellow trees dot Sturrow Drive.

It’s a beautiful time of year and I’m just so grateful to live here! Happy Fall everyone!

That’s How We Roll

Last month, we bought this trunk at the Vintage Bazaar in Salisbury, MA. We absolutely love it for a coffee table but we agreed it needed to be more mobile. Four casters were an easy addition. Not only is it now easy to move around but it’s nice to have that couple inches of space under it for your toes!

Colds & Curb Appeal

Like clockwork, every year I seem to get a cold in the fall. So I apologize but my posts this week will probably be a bit intermittent.

But today, I wanted to share some great updates to our home’s exterior.

Try to ignore our deteriorating front steps but we’ve decided not to do any “touch ups” on those and simply wait until next year when we can overhaul the whole thing. What we have done is…

An adorable envelope mailbox.

New house numbers.

A welcoming mat.

Solar generated LED lights on the front steps.

And a monogrammed door knocker.

It’s not big changes but it’s just part of making this home ours and reflecting our style. It certainly helps that yesterday was such a gorgeous fall day. Check out that bright beautiful orange tree! Fall at it’s finest!

The Week in Review | October 14-18

There were some wonderful blog posts this week. Seems like everyone’s completely smitten with fall and getting homes extra cozy for the cold weather. Here are my favorite posts…

Week in Review

  1. I fell in love with this house and it’s owners the Burket family over at Design Mom. Leslie Burket is the owner of Lilapops (the all natural cough drop lollipop) and the owner of a lovely home. These vaulted ceilings blew me away!
  2. Centsational Girl highlighted the eat in kitchen this week. Check out all her beautiful pics of nooks and islands in stunning kitchens.
  3. And while you’re in the kitchen, take a recipe from the gals over at A Beautiful Mess and whip up some homemade pretzel bread bowls. Boy could I use some tomato soup in a bread bowl right now! <tummy grumble>
  4. Lindsay from The Pursuit of Style showed off her gorgeous pics from her trip to Charleston, South Carolina. Made me remissness about the trip Jared & I took to that picturesque city!
  5. And for your weekly dose of pumpkin, Ellen from MADE+remade blog posted some great options for no-carve pumpkins.

Virtual Shopping | Pottery Barn Teen

Yes, I realize I don’t have teenagers and lord knows I’m no longer a teen but when my Pottery Barn Teen catalog arrived last week, I couldn’t help but drool over the most beautiful rooms and fabulous accessories… not necessarily just for teens! So let’s do some virtual shopping, shall we?

Disclaimer: Virtual shopping involves no actual money, exchange of goods or services, or legitimate currency of any kind. Enjoy!

This canopy bed is so so lovely. The gold tones add such a sophisticated element to room and you know me with my whites and creams! Fab!

Nothing stuffy about this chaise lounge done in a casual denim. And who doesn’t love a collection of vintage mirrors?

I just think this room looks oh so cozy with all the fleece blankets, shag rug, and over-sized plush chair.

A leather Eames-inspired chair is always in style but this one is extra playful with it’s distressed baseball-glove look.

I’m a sucker for minty-aqua but what caught my eye in this room was the great use of storage! Talk about a place for everything! Even the bed legs act as a bulletin board. Genius!

And finally, my favorite room- hello rustic luxe! Exposed barn boards and distressed metal lanterns along side poofy beanbags and stylish surfboards. I could hang out here all day!
