We love our back splash. It’s marble 2×3″ tiles from The Tile Shop which I believe has stores all over the country. They were a pleasure to work with and even offered a DIY class on some weekends. I would definitely try to see the tile in person since stone is totally different depending on the stone it came from. This looks like the same one on their site: https://www.tileshop.com/product/ashford+carrara+polished+amalfi+marble+wall+tile.do?sortby=ourPicksAscend&refType=&from=fn.

Good luck with your kitchen! And thanks for reading!

I have been anguishing over a new backsplash for the past 3 years or so until I saw the pictures of your kitchen backsplash. Love how it is subtle and classic but with just enough color to pop out from behind the cabinets and that it travels up to the ceiling. Would you be willing to share where you purchased your tile, color/manufacturer, and care/upkeep? Unsure with so many choices and options, I am finally able to break free from my paralysis thanks to you!

We used Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter throughout the first floor including the mudroom. The floors are Brazilian Cherry wood with a Jacobean stain on them. The stairs are oak with the same stain. We are so happy with our paint and stain choices!

I love our butcherblock countertops but they are definitely not super durable. I do most of my cooking prep on a big cutting board that’s always on the counter. You have to be cognizant of hot things, water sitting on them, and dings and dents. I sand little marks out and apply mineral oil monthly. I don’t regret the choice because I love the look but I know it’s more work than it should be and more work than most people would be willing to do.

Good luck with your house!

Also, what color are your floors and stairs? Oh, and, how do you like the butcher block counters? I have to decide on a counter for our soft white shaker cabinets and am torn. I can’t make up my mind to safe my life. I have to decide soon because people are starting to think I’m a weirdo for taking so long. I like the look of some marble look-a-likes as well as a honed dark gray, charcoal color but I’m also curious about butcher block. Hmmm. Too many decisions. Thank you much.
PS – Want to come to NY and pick things for my house ; )

The doors are just a pure black from Benjamin Moore. We are so happy with our paint choices!

Also, what color did you paint the door? It looks like a midnight blue/black color. Thank you.
